Nishaan is a budding songstress based in the UK. As an artist who finds healing through her art, she stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration with music that resonates with listeners on a deeply personal level, thanks to its intimate and skilled craftsmanship.  When reflecting on her career journey, Nishaan finds the most memorable moment and process to be the simple act of creating and releasing music. She revels in the opportunity to explore various musical genres, spanning alternative R&B, indie pop, and ambient pop. Each listener who engages with her music becomes a source of gratitude, contributing to the fulfillment she finds in artistic expression. Beyond the stage, Nishaan’s ultimate goal is to touch hearts, making people feel understood and less alone through her music—a testament to her profound passion for connecting with others through her art.

In what is a significant achievement in her budding career, Nishaan has released her new 7-track mini-album, “Say It Back.” This collection explores her genuine experiences with toxic relationships, taking the listener through each phase with performances that are direct, bred from a place of honesty and raw emotion.

This EP is a deeply personal, raw, and passionate project into which she poured her entire heart and soul. It talks about being in love, experiencing the turmoil of toxicity, moving on, and healing from the whole ordeal.

The title track, “Say It Back,” features magical production, excellent beats, and percussion, providing a captivating backdrop for Nishaan’s beautiful voice. Her voice exudes such effortless power as she captures the thematic essence of the track with her vivid lyricism and crystal clear vocals, evoking imagery from within the mind of a listener. The lyrics here pertain to the disjointed feelings that start to present in a relationship where you feel that the energy you are giving is not being reciprocated.

“Earth, Wind and Fire” is the opener—a spectacular piece where Nishaan excels with her powerhouse voice, enchanting with such skill and poise with lyrics that are evocative and provoke thoughts and imagery from within a listener. The production is robust, nostalgic, but with contemporary flair, contributing to its far-reaching appeal.

“Staying Overnight?” is a personal favorite of mine thanks to its lively blend of beats and melodies. The sawtooth synths, basslines, and percussion create the perfect foundation of support for Nishaan’s euphonious vocals as she sings with heart and soul, surrendering her vulnerable feelings in a way that instantly appeals to the listener.

“Gotta Get Out” comes as a realization with Nishaan fed up and ready to take the next important step, which involves leaving this relationship that has taken so much from her without giving back, thereby prioritizing her well-being, mental health, and freedom. She delivers with such raw passion, allowing a listener to find their own personal connection with her words.

The last jam, “Healing” is the anthem of victory, freedom, resilience, and independence. This is Nishaan healing from the aftershocks of the toxic relationship, finally being free, happy, and independent again, and enjoying every second of it. The catchy, relatable lyrics and infectious melodies underscore the song’s anthemic appeal, ensuring it resonates with listeners long after it’s played.

In its entirety, “Say It Back” hits so close to home and is a project that I know will do very well thanks to its identifiable subject matter and the vocal prowess showcased by Nishaan, as well as the excellent production.

Stream this album in its entirety and share your thoughts on Nishaan’s artistic integrity and authenticity.
