BlackJacketBoys is a 17-year old EDM artist from Florida who has been producing distinct bass music and a dynamic catalog teeming with a variety of vibrant EDM, Drum n’ Bass, and the expressive Dubstep. Even then, he likes to exercise his freedom in creativity by not limiting himself to any one genre – his dynamic versatility enabling him to create stupendous productions with radiant soundscapes disposing of his maestro musicianship and his particularly keen ear for sound design. “Vocoder” is characterized by its impressive rhythm, bass, and dark sound with the heavy use of spatial atmospheres, low-end frequencies, and swing. The integration of the half-step rhythm that most Dubstep aficionados will be familiar with and which distinguishes it from other dance music.
The melodic and accentuated instrumentation jumps at you with a monumental blend of rhythm and melody which is dazzling with a vigorous and audacious presence. He did an incredible job by complementing the beats’ movement with the shuffled and syncopated hi-hat patterns and the blending of the heavy sub-bass designs the warmth and depth required for this melodic hullabaloo to slap. The tempo is moving significantly which provides the potential for DJs to mix with the break-beats in their sets.
He exercised his freedom masterfully by moving away from any specific set of song structure and reliance on breaks and bass drops by using the atmospherics and textures to create a full and spacious mix. The echo, reverb, and panoramic stereo add depth and space to this thrilling and spicy conundrum. While building on the dominant low-frequency elements of the sub-bass and kick drum with a keen emphasis on the lower end of the sonic spectrum, BlackJacketBoys made sure to select kick and sub-bass that gel together in intriguing fashion. This is a more organic sound with an abundance of decent drum samples that cut through in the frequency spectrum with reverberating flair.
He tried not to clutter the beats with too many sounds so as to get the right groove that is more expressive and punches in. He capitalized on the freedom artistic style that comes with such a diverse and uniquely qualified Dubstep and Drum n’ Bass style which encourages a lot of people to try their hand at making it, he conceived a good idea in his head and blended a catchy bassline and drum lick that bond well, making the sound as natural as possible by throwing a bit of randomization in there to capture the essence and depth. This is certainly his favorite stamping ground and he is excelling astonishingly at it.
