Remember the name August Rayne for she is about to introduce you to a whole new level of the world as she takes you on a musical voyage and ascertains a resounding listening experience taking your mind on an expedition into the musical galaxy she has built exclusively for her listeners countrywide. Under the weighty management of Talented10th Entertainment’s “Messed Up” is her debut single release. And i admit she is a one-woman wrecking crew and a proud endorser at that giving us the nostalgic 90s R&B sound with the track “Messed Up” and following it up with the new age delicious taste as evidenced in the other track “Stay Wit Me”. These two songs provide a cinematic contrast to their melodicism seeing that one is about the emotional honesty after a breakup and the other track is unapologetic about the real power reclaimed by a woman in her defiant feminine energy and both, so to say are worthwhile listening experiences as her voice in both tracks projects and emotes the emotional lyrics being displayed.
“Messed Up” is reminiscent of the stupendous feel-good vibes R&B we were accustomed to while growing up with its laid-back vibes, the strong writing, and the accomplished performance on display by August Rayne. This track is almost like a splendid heartbreaking letter to classic R&B. August did a commendable job of capturing the spirit and vibe of the genre with both her sumptuous vocal outlets and tremendous spirit. Combining a clear-cut sense of melody and a fantastic amount of synthesized beats, the drums, and the appeasing bass; this obscenely nostalgic track is nothing short of inspiring.
“Stay Wit Me” takes a deep dive and a more vibrant space with its mid-tempo and deep-phased bass, synth beats, and the subtle hints of Hip hop instrumentations. This is the perfect tune to sit back and relax as you tap dance your way across your house floor whilst poring yourself outrageously large bourbon. There is real power and intent to its delivery with the finely calibrated vocals reinforcing the themes and providing continual intrigue throughout. This is her at her absolute best and this version of her smells like bringing the house down at a half-time show at the much revered Super Bowl.
The prodigious level of musicianship on display is mind-blowing and is an absolute pleasure to listen to. Rhythmically, harmonically and melodically, “Messed Up” is spot on and I’m certain a broad range of varied music lovers will find plenty of melodies to enjoy here. Go check her out, follow her, stream, save and share her heart-gripping songs for the rest of the world to enjoy such ear-worming music.
